Clean eating, home remedies, fitness, supplements, advice, and of course, sharing my own personal Journey.

So I did it. I decided on my Niche. I have always been passionate about health and healing with food and supplements. I myself have always struggled with weight. Mostly hormonal imbalances as well as lifestyle choices. I’m sure many of you can relate.
For my first post jumping into this I think it’s safe to start with my favorite topic in health and wellness, and that would be clean eating. I would like to start off by emphasizing, that I myself, have not made the full switch, despite my now several attempts. But, that being said I would like to follow up with, I feel this will help hold me accountable as I most definitely need to practice what I preach.
So what is clean eating you ask? Clean eating a a healthy eating approach that emphasizes consuming whole foods. Whole foods are unprocessed foods in their natural state. The goal of clean eating is to avoid processed foods and additives. In following a clean eating lifestyle you instead opt for nutrient dense foods that support your overall health and wellness.
Why am I so passionate about Clean eating? I was raised by my great-grandparents. My grandfather always had the most beautiful garden. My Mother and her father both had type 2 Diabetes and suffered a stroke that changed their lives. Processed foods contain added sugars, unhealthy fats, and artificial ingredients that contribute to weight gain and chronic health issues such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. I am grateful that my great grandparents raised me in a home that had fresh produce to consume. I didn’t realize how much that would benefit me until I got older and went out on my own and started eating processed foods. I then started to struggle with my weight, and my biggest fear has always been that I myself would end up diabetic.
So how do you get started? How do you make the transition? Number one way to make the transition easier on yourself is to plan prep. Planning your meals and snacks in advance not only saves time and money, it helps you to avoid the pitfall of impulsive eating. Preparing meals and snacks in advance sets you up for success to make healthier choices when it comes to what you are putting into your body.
Other ways to implement clean eating into you lifestyle would be ideally to have your own garden and learn how to can foods, but in a world consumed by convenience, I do have other recommendations. Try shopping the outer perimeter of the grocery store. The perimeter is where the fresh produce and food selections can be found. Make sure you read food labels to look for ingredients. Try your hardest to avoid processed foods with additives and look for foods that contain minimal ingredients. Start off slowly incorporating more whole foods into your diet such as fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and plant proteins. There are several apps online that will help with new recipes to try. Clean eating is not a restrictive diet and there are several different ways to approach it. The only goal is to focus on whole, unprocessed foods and make healthier choices that support your overall health and wellness. In turn this will lead to a lifestyle that can help to prevent and even reverse chronic health issues.
Clean Eating highly recommended books to start off your journey.
